Five Kingsport City Schools have been named among Tennessee’s best, announced as Reward Schools by the Tennessee Department of Education.

For the eighth consecutive year, Kingsport City Schools (KCS) has achieved the top composite score of 5 in Tennessee Value Added Assessment System (TVAAS).

Jana Engle has been selected as a Joyce Ward Teacher of the Year by the Tennessee World Language Teaching Association.

The programs celebrate the hard work of thousands of high school students nationwide to help them showcase their strong academic performance.

The Induction Ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Civic Auditorium.

The administrative retreat will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Those named as National Merit Commended Students from Dobyns-Bennett are Addison Arnold, Rishab Dey, Kaylah Lang, Lauren Maynard, Luke Musser, and Cam Sewell.

Nine (9) Dobyns-Bennett High School students have received Advanced Placement® (AP®) Capstone Diplomas.

Shanna Hensley was named KCS Principal of the Year and Dr. Holly Flora was named KCS Supervisor of the Year.

Bryan Kerns, Dobyns-Bennett High School Fire Management Services and Mathematics teacher, named the 2024-25 State of Tennessee Teacher of the Year at the TDOE's annual Excellence in Education celebration.
