Dobyns-Bennett High School Students Earn Academic Honors from College Board National Recognition Program

KINGSPORT, TENN. – Seven Dobyns-Bennett High School students have earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Program as First-Generation Award recipients.

The program, available through BigFuture, celebrates the academic achievements of thousands of high school students nationwide to help them showcase their strong academic performance. The National Recognition Program recognizes students who are first-generation college-bound, as well as those from rural and small-town communities and students who identify as Black, Indigenous, and Hispanic/or Latino. Many colleges and universities use these awards as part of their recruitment efforts, helping expand access to higher education.

  • William Bailey
  • Jaxon Buckley
  • Isaac Musser
  • Katelyn Musser

“The hard work these three seven young adults have invested has paid off,” said Dobyns-Bennett High School Principal Dr. Brian Tate. “They challenged themselves academically and are now on track for incredible, life-changing opportunities, making the Dobyns-Bennett school community very proud.”
