Credit Recovery Explanation:

  • A credit recovery course is retaking a course for credit that your student has taken in the regular classroom environment but has failed with a final course average of 50% or higher.
  • Completing a credit recovery course will not remove the original failing grade from a student’s transcript. However, it will keep the failing grade from being counted in your student’s final GPA,  and it will give your student the needed credit towards graduation.
  • If a student completes a course for Credit Recovery, the highest grade he/she can make for that course is a 60%/D.
  • To be eligible to take an EOC course (Eng. 9 and 10, Alg 1, Alg 2, Geometry, US History, Biology), a student must have earned at least a 50% average in the classroom.
  • Other offered courses can be taken for credit recovery if the student failed with lower than a 50% average (Math App, Eng. 11, Eng. 12, world history, US Government, economics, personal finance, earth science, environmental science, chemistry, wellness 1 and 2)

All course selections will be reviewed by the Summer School Coordinator to confirm eligibility.  If you request a course your student is not eligible to take, the coordinator may suggest a different course that is more appropriate.

NOTE for Potential Collegiate Athletes: Please be aware of NCAA guidelines regarding online courses and NCAA eligibility. Information about this can be found at www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/future. If you have any questions about online courses and NCAA after visiting this site, you should contact your student’s counselor for advice in regard to your student’s particular situation prior to registering them for online coursework.

Transportation:  Transportation will be provided if needed if a student's address falls within the normal KCS bus service area.

Food Services: Both breakfast and lunch can be provided upon request at no cost.

Please Note:

Physical attendance from June 1-June 26 is mandatory in this summer's Credit Recovery Program. If your student cannot be present all four weeks of programming, please do not sign him/her up to participate.
