Nine Dobyns-Bennett students have been named as National Merit Commended Students in the 68th Annual 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Dobyns-Bennett Boys Basketball Coach Chris Poore has been selected as the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee 4-A Boys Coach of the Year for the 2021-22 season.

Dobyns-Bennett High School senior, Ria Kothari and recent graduate, Noah Lee have earned a perfect score on a college-level Advanced Placement (AP) Exam in spring 2022.

During ongoing review by local and national engineering consultants, Kingsport City Schools (KCS) has continued the closure of the Buck Van Huss Dome at Dobyns-Bennett High School. A Phase 1 report has now been received by KCS regarding the gymnasium’s wooden Lamella dome structure.

Five (5) Dobyns-Bennett High School students have been named as Semifinalists in the 68th Annual 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Our students and teachers did a remarkable job in these very rigorous courses and I could not be more proud of their results.

During ongoing review by local and national engineering consultants, Kingsport City Schools is continuing the closure of the Buck Van Huss Dome at Dobyns-Bennett High School while awaiting a final report on the gymnasium’s wooden Lamella dome structure.

Dr. Bo Shadden, Dobyns-Bennett High School Director of Career and Technical Education & Post-Secondary Opportunities, has been named the 2022 CTE Administrator of the Year.

This program offers residents the opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of all KCS educational and functional operations.

The purpose of the event is to empower KCS parents and guardians of children in grades K-12 by educating them of the harmful effects of substance misuse in our youth.
