KINGSPORT, TENN. – Dobyns-Bennett High School senior Chandler Johnson has successfully matched with a partner college through the highly competitive QuestBridge National College Match program with the College of the Holy Cross.
Through the program, Johnson received a full four-year scholarship valued at approximately $325,000. He plans to participate in the 3/2 engineering program through Holy Cross and Columbia University, allowing him to pursue advanced studies in engineering while benefiting from the strengths of both institutions.
"Dobyns-Bennett faculty and staff are thrilled for this life-changing opportunity presented to Chandler," said Dr. Brian Tate, Dobyns-Bennett High School Principal. "This achievement reflects not only his academic excellence and determination, but also positions him for a successful future career."
The QuestBridge National College Match is a highly selective college admission and scholarship process that connects high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with full four-year scholarships to some of the nation's top colleges and universities. The program recognizes students who have excelled academically despite financial hardship and provides them with opportunities to stand out in the college admissions process.
The National College Match process begins each September when students submit applications for consideration as QuestBridge finalists. Selected finalists can rank up to 15 partner colleges for potential admission and scholarship matching. In December, students who match are admitted early with a full scholarship to the highest-ranked college that selects them. Finalists who do not initially match may still use their QuestBridge application to apply through additional early or regular decision opportunities with partner colleges and universities.
