An Important Note from the D-B Counseling Office

You should have access to see your schedule on July 31st @ 4pm. This information can be accessed through your Aspen account. Please be aware that the schedule you are receiving prior to the start of school is tentative. There may be changes in teachers, class periods, course offerings, etc. prior to the first day of school. It is sometimes necessary to make changes in schedules to accommodate required courses for all students.  All students will receive an updated schedule in their homeroom on the first day of school. That will be the schedule you need to follow, even if you know a correction or change needs to occur. If you have requested a change, please understand that counselors have until August 15th to make changes to schedules, but we will notify you as soon as possible regarding a class change. Until you hear back from your counselor, follow the schedule that you received last.

A few of you may have “See Counselor” on your schedules. This means your schedule is incomplete and you will need to speak to your counselor to resolve the issue. Please only come by the counseling office during the class period when you have “See Counselor” on your schedule. 

Some of you may have alternate courses on your schedule. This means the primary electives you requested are full or conflict with another course. We have tried very hard to find appropriate courses for you based on what alternates you selected in the spring, and what courses currently have openings. Students who did not attend their registration meeting or fill out their registration card by the deadline had their courses selected by their counselor and will have very limited options for choosing elective courses.

Course Change Request Forms are available this year for regular and AP/Honors class changes. The form can be picked up outside of the counseling office or can be printed from the D-B website. If you have questions about filling out the form, please contact your counselor.

Please check your entire schedule (1st & 2nd semester) to determine if you need a course change. This could include:

You have a course on your schedule that you have already passed.
You are a senior who is missing a class needed for graduation.
You have a class on your schedule that was not a primary or alternative request.
You have a class on your schedule for which you do not meet the prerequisite.
You have a “See Counselor” on your schedule.
You wish to try a more challenging course in (English, Math, Science or Social Studies)

*Please remember, it is Dobyns-Bennett’s policy that we do not change classes based on teacher preference.  

Course Change forms for 1st and 2nd Semester are due in the Counseling Office by Friday, August 8.

Approved schedule changes will be sent to the student as soon as possible.
