KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools has announced that Beth Cohen has been named Principal of Dobyns-Bennett EXCEL effective July 1, 2025.
With 18 years of experience with KCS, Cohen has served in multiple educational roles, including as a social studies teacher and assistant principal at Dobyns-Bennett High School and as an interim principal at Ross N. Robinson Middle School. Her most recent role includes 13 years as an assistant principal at Dobyns-Bennett.
“I am thrilled to join the incredible teachers and staff of D-B EXCEL who have a well-established commitment to innovation and personalized learning,” said Cohen. “It is a true honor to step into the role of principal and serve our students, families, and the Kingsport community.”
Cohen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in History from East Tennessee State University (ETSU), a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from King University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from ETSU. She has received multiple professional awards, including being named a fellow for the Tennessee Governor’s Academy for School Leaders.
Cohen replaces Dr. Shanna Hensley, who was recently named KCS Chief Academic Officer - Secondary.
