Tennessee is a large producer of food; however, one in five Tennesseans do not know where their next meal is coming from. Scientists predict that there will be 9 billion people on earth by 2050. As the world population grows, lack of access to adequate amounts of healthy food will become more prevalent. Students will reconsider how people grow, transport, and consume food as they develop solutions to increase food security in the community or region.
