Information Technology Support Student Internships

A student internship in Information Technology Support is available for the next school year at Dobyns-Bennett for passionate, tech-savvy, and dependable students.

Job Description:

The Information Technology Support Student Intern will provide direct technical assistance and support to the faculty/staff and students of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Duties will include maintaining a support desk for the student 1:1 laptop initiative, work directly with Technology staff to provide technology support throughout Dobyns-Bennett, installing and maintaining computer systems including software and hardware on desktops and laptops, resolving internet and network access issues (both wired and wireless), providing network printer support, meeting with staff to provide one-on-one technical assistance as needed/requested, providing training to staff on software and hardware use, determining causes of computer/software/network malfunctions through evaluation and testing and resolution via modifications, repair, or technology staff support assistance.

The internship will last up to one semester with the potential to go beyond that.

 Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Work directly with DBHS Information Technology Staff to support faculty/staff and students Information Technology needs.
  • Respond to users requires for service, troubleshoot problems, and help develop solutions.
  • Assist with the student 1:1 laptop initiative troubleshooting including diagnosing issues, replacing parts, and reimaging devices.
  • Support PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software.
  • Maintains electronic documentation, files, and records to document activities, convey information and/or provide an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
  • Maintains a high level of personal integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Assumes the responsibility of having regular and timely attendance.
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

DBHS Technology Department is looking for a student intern with exceptional customer service skills, solid troubleshooting skills, ability to work well in a team environment, excellent oral and written communications skills, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Applicants should have experience with Windows 7 and be able to diagnose basic computer issues.

Experience with Windows 10 is a plus. Applicants should also have experience supporting recent

versions of Microsoft Office Applications, including 2010, 2013, and 2016.



  • Senior class rank at DBHS
  • Experience with working and supporting Information Technology in various formats
  • Must be able to work an entire block or singleton and willing to commit an entire semester of an internship.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and efficiently manage time.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and effectiveness in working with a high performing team.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

This is a noncredit opportunity and selection will be based on administrative approval. In addition, students will not be able to drop an AP class for this opportunity.
